"My Double and How He Undid Me"

Published March 24, 2006

Famous people have doubles to spare them danger. Wouldn't a normal person find one useful, too? Of course he would! Until something went wrong, anyway.

This story, which appeared in the September 1859 issue of Atlantic Monthly, was the first story ever sold by Edward Everett Hale. (He later wrote "The Man Without a Country".)
